portuguese egg tarts ( pie susu for indonesian)

To be honest, i dont know that there is this kind of tarts in indonesia but you guys call it pie susu and its pretty famous in Bali . all i know , this is a cantonese cuisine because people that went to visit Hongkong wud bring em as a gift . i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it soooo much !
a week ago , i finally tried the indonesian version . and its basically the same things . i dont know which version is the original hehehehe regardless there is always a stir between where some foods originally come from ,right???
there are tons of this recipes at the internet . below is mine . the shell is crispy and tasty because i use a lot of butter and the filling is so sweet because i use evaporated milk instead condensed milk or UHT milk. as always , i warn you girls to ask for my permission if u want to repost this version egg tarts of mine .

so here we go :) lets make it ,girls <3333

tarts ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp castor sugar (optional in some recipes but i don't use it because i don't like the tart to be sweet )
custard ingredients
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  •  4 eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
directions :

1. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together. Blend in butter with a pastry cutter until mixture resemble coarse crumbs.
2. In a smaller bowl, whisk the egg with the cold water. Stir the egg mixture into the flour mixture to form a  dough. Wrap with plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
3. Meanwhile ,lets make the custard . Combine  sugar and water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Cook until the sugar is dissolved . set aside until its cool.
4. In a large bowl, combine eggs, evaporated milk and vanilla extract . whisk until smooth. Strain into the mixture of reserved syrup and mix it.
5. roll the dough and cut it  into rounds then press the dough into the tart pans.
6. Pour the custard into the prepared tart shells
7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is a bit puffed up

    3. susu evaporasi itu jenis susu yang telah diuapkan sebagian kadar airnya, menjadi lebih kental daripada susu cair biasa. tp bukan susu kental manis ya (condensed milk) , biasanya merknya carnation kalo evaporated milk.. dua fungsinya gag bs slg menggantikan
